Tardy tickets will be issued and you will serve morning detentions according to school policy.  If you need to go back to your locker you can use one of your three free passes issued to you by Madame Oakley.  You can you these passes only with the teacher’s permission.  Students cannot share their passes and will not be replaced if lost or stolen.  Unused passes can be turned in at the end of the quarter for five participation points per pass or one “Payez-moi” fine.

2. Be prepared (Soyez bien prépare)

  • Sharpen your pencil when you walk in the door or at a time you are not disrupting the class.
  • Bring your notebook, pencils/pens, book, and other materials to class. The lack of preparation can result in a “Payez-moi” fine.

  • There is no late work and absent work is to be completed according to district policy.

    Classroom Rewards and Consequences

“Payez-moi” fines – Violation of class rules can result in Madame Oakley giving you a “Payez-moi” fine.  It is worth 10 participation points.  Students can use their “tickets roses” (1 point per ticket roses) to pay their fines.  Examples:

  • Talking out of turn, forgetting to bring supplies, inappropriate behavior, negative comments / behavior, breaking class, school rules, non-participation, tardies

If a student is disruptive he / she can earn a Payez-moi in the following manner:

  • 1st disruption – Name on the board (warning)
  • 2nd disruption – Payez-moi fine and a 2nd check mark next to his or her name
  • 3rd disruption – A second Payez-moi fine, a third check mark, and a phone call home
  • 4th disruption – A third Payez-moi fine, a fourth check mark, a phone call home, and a written referral to the office

Note:  If a student’s behavior is persistently a problem, the “Payez-moi” system will bypassed and a behavior plan will set up with the student and parent.

Individual Participation

You can earn 50 participation points per week.  It is your responsibility to participate by answering questions, doing TPR, singing songs, reciting poems, paying attention to lecture/presentations, and by bringing supplies to class (pencil/pen notebook, textbook, and workbook).  If a student does not appropriately participate they have to pay a “Payez-moi” fine.

Failure to make-up class participation pints or cancel “Payez-moi” fines will result in the lowering of your grade.

Homework

Most homework is to be turned in the next day to the basket (after we correct it) on the counter.  The basket underneath is for homework that needs to be returned.  Exception: The homework in the workbook is to stay in the workbook.  Points for the workbook pages will be kept on sheet in your notebook and turned in to Madame Oakley when stamping sheet is filled.

Late homework is not accepted unless there is a note from a parent or the situation is explained to Madame Oakley after class. Make-up work must be completed in a timely manner.  One day’s absence equals one day’s make-up time which is consistent with district policy.  The only exception to this policy is the make-up of class participation points which can be made up until the second to the last day of they quarter.  If you were present the day before a quiz you are responsible for taking the quiz.
