Learning Theories
Sheltered Instruction Operation Protocol

In my class there is a myriad of students, ESL, special education, gifted, minorities, regular eduction students etc...SIOP is a structured preparation, instruction, and assessment that will allow me to reach all of these students. It provides scaffolding for those who need it and engaging lessons for those who need to be excited about learning.

Multiple Intelligences
Howard Garner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences says that students have many strengths and that they are not only in the linguistic and mathematical areas. I believe in using his theory to plan instruction, to organize projects, and to give assessments. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate that they know what they have learn through choosing an intelligence or strength such as Musical-Rhythmic (sing a song), Bodily Kinesthetic (create a dance), or Visual-Spatial (making a chart or diagram).
Blooms Taxonomy Chart
I use Bloom's Taxonomy to make sure that the type of assignments and evaluation / assessments go beyond the knowledge and comprehension levels. Too often we get stuck in the lower levels of Bloom's Taxonomy and forget to challenge students. It makes assignments more interesting and engaging.
Differentiation Chart

Differentiation is a useful strategy for all learners within a diverse classroom. The gifted students have different needs from the special education student. It is necessary for teachers to be equiped with strategies such as differentiation in order to address such needs.
